Born and raised on the southern tip of Italy by the Mediterranean Sea, Nicola always enjoyed alternating his dancing career with other artistic expressions. After training at Centro Studi Danza Tersicore in his hometown and Balletto di Roma and IALS in Rome, Nicola toured with the company I Nuovi Sciamani in a musical entirely translated in sign language. He was also in the cast of the TV show Macao for RAI 2 (National Public Television).

Upon arriving in New York City in 1998, Nicola received a scholarship from the Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance from which he graduated in Spring 2000.

As a member of the Martha Graham Dance Ensemble for the 99/00 tour he danced in Acts of Light, Adorations, Temptations of the Moon, and the duet from A Dancer’s World.

In 2004 Nicola was featured in Anna Sokolow’s Rooms Etude directed by Lorry May for the American Dance Legacy Project. Soon after he was invited to join Sokolow Now!, the Anna Sokolow Foundation’s archival company of  which he is a current member and performs throughout  the States. Nicola has also danced with Pearl Lang Dance Theater,

Max Luna III, Igal Perry, Dzul Dance and performed the role of Alfred de Musset in the Dance/Drama La bonne dame (remembering George Sand) by Deborah Zall. For this role he has been quoted as “handsome and agile” by Jeannie Schulman on Backstage. Dance/Theater productions include Volere Volare by Alessandra Luberti, Frammenti by Daniela Boensch, I’ve known rivers by Brenda Baden-Semper and E la tua veste bianca by Giorgio Rossi. Film credits include Raw by Rachel Victor, Monella (aka Frivolous Lola) by Tinto Brass and E insieme vivremo tutte le stagioni by Gianni Minello. Choreographic credits include Dancing at Lughnasa (Schoolhouse Theater, croton Falls NY),  Un Mondo di Piccole Pesti; children’s show benefiting the telephone help-line telefono azzurro and the Gala of the Italian premier of Starship Troopers (Buena Vista International). Nicola has collaborated with the Music Department of NYU and Bergen Community College (NJ).

As a model, Nicola has worked with Sportswear International, Lawrence Grecco and Nan Melville. Nicola founded Mare Nostrum Elements in 2001 with Kevin Albert and served as Artistic Director since 2009 when the company ws incorporated as a 501(c)3 organization. Nicola has been offering The Wave Within! Movement Theater workshops and intensives in Italy (IALS- Rome, Roccella Jonica International Jazz Festival, University of Calabria) as well as in New York (Peridance Center, NYU, Fiorello La Guardia HS, PMT Studio, Battery Dance and Trinity College/La MaMa)
