We are pleased to announce that Mare Nostrum Elements just received three grants from the Queens Council on the Arts.

Our first children outreach program—The Young Wave!—is made possible (in part) by the QCA with public funding from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs; as well as funds from the Decentralization Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts, administered by the Queens Council on the Arts.

The third grant by JP Morgan Chase Arts Foundation will be used to strengthen and stabilize our organization by hiring a grant writer/development consultant.

An independent panel also recommended MNE for inclusion in QCA’s 2012 Build Your Own Business Program to help us meet our artistic and fiscal goals.

New York Foundation or the Arts Bootstrap Festival
A Celebration of Movement and Interdisciplinary Art

We are thrilled to have The Wave Within! selected as the closing event of the NYFA Bootstrap Festival. Nicola Iervasi and Kevin Albert have been developing and teaching The Wave Within! method since 2002. To celebrate the 10th anniversary, we are now extending our performance-oriented tools to musicians who hope to explore their stage presence and find new sources of inspiration. All participants will create, develop and perform a strictly personal physical expression that may include live music and use of the voice. The experiment will be conducted in front of a live audience as they witness the unfolding of The Wave Within! method right before their eyes and will culminate with a Q&A and refreshments.
