NINA ATKINSON-EVANS

Story: after completing my training at the Laban Centre in London, I founded Loop Dance Company. As Artistic Director of Loop (along with a committed and talented team of professional dancers) I have worked with many well know choreographers as well as creating my own work including four site specific works, lead and overseen many community, youth and educational dance projects and have managed several regional and national tours. Alongside my work with Loop I also worked as a freelance choreographer, teacher, dancer and administrator. From January 98 to July 2002 I was employed part-time at Ashford Borough Council as the councils 1st Youth Arts Development Officer. Projects for young people include the Create Youth Arts Festival, Global Spin a culturally diverse youth dance and music and Theatre Force youth theatre project. I am currently on sabbatical in New York City studying Limon Technique at the Peridance Center and Limon Institute and Aerial Dance with Flyby Night Dance Theatre. In addition I continue to take a leading role in Loop Dance Company and I'm currently working freelance as administrator and fundraiser for New York based Stephanie Nelson Dance Company.

Nina and MNE: I entered Mare Nostrum Elements world in December 2002 as a Contact Improvisation guest leader. I performed at the Dec. 02 and June 03 workshop showings at Peridance Center.
