NICOLE GRAFFEO
Country: USA
Story: I have only recently fallen in love with modern dance's sincerity
and diversity. I hold a BA in Theater-Dance from Queens College,
and studied at Peridance Center, Dance Space and Martha Graham School.
Having had a wonderful dancing experience at the Laban Centre in
London, I am always on the lookout for new and exciting dance-related
opportunities. I live in New York City where I am currently studying to
become a certified teacher in the Simonson technique, and where I also
enjoy working backstage as Production Assistant for Dancenow/NYC.
Since converting from a jazz, tap, and hip-hop dancer, I have been
fortunate to perform works by notable choreographers such as Alexandra
Beller, Debra Wanner, Jennifer Archibald, Felicite Perci, and Claire
Elizabeth Barratt, among others.
Career: Formerly the Artistic Director of Wes Dance, I am currently
working on my own choreography and movement theater projects,
collaborating with other artists to create multi-disciplined work. In these
days I am performing with Cilla_Vee Movement Projects as an
improvisational dancer. I am very happy to be a part of Mare Nostrum
Elements, the Wave Within!
Nicole and MNE: I attended a MNE workshop in June 2003, soon after that,
I was asked to join the group, so, here I am! I performed for the june
2003 workshop showing and in "...Until it rains Sand" presented at
Peridance Center in June 2004.
