JOHN LA BARBERA Country: USA Musician Story: He is musical director of "I Gillard did Piazza" and has performed and recorded with world class musicians and singers including: American Folk Singer Judy Collins; Tidy Le Loki, South African vocalist and star from Broadway's The Lion King; Palestinian out virtuoso and violinist, Simon Shaken; Composer/Author Liz Swedes; Maria Carat and Pupil e Fireside from Italy; master percussionist Glen Velez; Bans Uri flutist Steve Garn and vocalist/percussionist Alessandra Belzoni. His Theater credits as composer-sound designer, include: Souls of Naples, starring John Torture; co-Musical Director for Martha Clark's Pirandello Project; La Mamma Theater and Dario D' Ambrosia' s Tetra Pathologic did Roma production of The Misadventures of Peter Pan and Captain Maledict. Film composing credits include: Documentary film Saco and Vendetta (2006); What's Up Scarlet? (2005) Children of Fate, nominated for best Documentary feature in the 1994 Academy Awards and winner of the 1993 Sundance Film Festival. His compositions have been recorded by jazz artists Enrico Granafei, Fred Hirsh and Adam Nussbaum, Jazz virtuoso violinist Joseph Deninzon, The Ethos percussion ensemble, Percussionists Alessandra Belloni, Yousif Sheronick and Joseph Gramley. His music appears on several labels including: Shanachie, Rounder, Lyrichord, and Ellipsis Arts.
